Abstract
⺠Sex steroids are well known to affect various skin functions. ⺠We examined the local biosyntheses of sex steroids in human skin. ⺠Aromatase plays important roles in estrogen synthesis and in elastic fiber formation. ⺠StAR is closely associated with testosterone synthesis and hair growth. ⺠Aromatase and StAR impact skin homeostasis.
