Abstract
▶ Increase in cortical and hippocampal extracellular GABA is a long-term consequence of perinatal hypoxia. ▶ Pyruvate can lower and stabilize extracellular GABA. ▶ Pyruvate significantly stimulates GATs-mediated GABA uptake. ▶ Pyruvate enhances affinity of GATs to GABA.
