Abstract

In this study a carbon ceramic electrode (CCE) modified with nickel hexacyanoferrate (NiHCF) nanoparticles was developed. This electrode has a good sensitivity and electrocatalytic activity toward oxidation of hydrazine in a wide concentration range. The hydrazine oxidation mechanism on the electrode surface was investigated, which the overall number of electrons involved in the electrocatalytic oxidation was four. Detection limit of this electrode was 8 μM and relative standard deviation for 13 independent measurements was 5.77%. Finally the proposed electrode exhibited several advantageous features, including simple preparation, fast response time, good stability and repeatability. The electrode was successfully applied for determination of hydrazine in water samples.
