Abstract

The capacitive performance of Co/Al layered double hydroxides (LDH) supported on porous nickel electrode in 0.5 M NaOH electrolyte was investigated. Co/Al LDH have been prepared by the hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis shows that the materials belong to regular platelet-like system with layered structure. Cyclic voltammetries (CV) and constant current charge/discharge measurements reveal that the Co/Al layered double hydroxide has good long-term capacitive performance with the highest specific capacitance values of 163 F g−1 at the large current density of 50 mA cm−2. The present study shows the potential of Co/Al LDH novel materials for electrochemical capacitors.
