Abstract
The electrochemical techniques used nowadays or proposed recently for studying the transport of hydrogen dissolved in metals are critically reviewed. That is preceded by an overview of fundamentals of equilibrium in the metal–hydrogen systems and transport of hydrogen in metals, taking also self-stress into account. As the main example, hydrogen in palladium and some its substitutional alloys is used.
