Abstract

Semiintegral electroanalysis for the measurement of the kinetic parameters in case of quasi-reversible electron transfer process was presented. As an experimental example using the electrooxidation of ferrocene at a platinum electrode in acetonitrile was performed. The heterogeneous rate constant, ks was independent of concentration of ferrocene and of the supporting electrolyte chosen (TBAP, TPAP, or TEAP). A linear relationship between the current, I, against the semiintegral of the voltammetric data, M was observed. The simplicity of this relationship makes this a very attractive for kinetic analysis. Values of ΔEp, E1/2, α, and D were also reported Digital simulations of cyclic voltammetric and chronoamperometric curves were performed and good agreement was found with experimental results.
