Abstract
The present study reports an application of CRT glass powder as an adsorbent for Pb(II) in aqueous system. To enhance the adsorption capacity chemical modification method is proposed by involving (i) thermo-ionic treatment using fluoride reagent, and (ii) calcinations at 600 °C. The lead removal rate was found to be increased (56%) using modified CRT glass powder (m-CRT) as compared with untreated powder (u-CRT). Adsorption isotherm modeling both Langmuir and Freundlich are plotted to show the good agreement between experimental and predicated data. Pb(II) adsorption over u and m-CRT follows pseudo second-order kinetic model.
