Abstract

•In this study of melamine conjugated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles is used as an extractant for first time.•Fe3O4@Mel as an adsorbent exhibited high selectivity and fast adsorption rates for adsorption of malachite green.•The proposed procedure shows good detection limits and precision and preconcentration factor.•The performance of this hybrid adsorbent in the extraction of malachite green from different matrices is excellent.

This paper presents a feasible protocol for the preparation of melamine conjugated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The application of this magnetic nanocomposite as a novel and sensitive solid phase for removal, preconcentration and spectrophotometric determination of trace amount of malachite green (MG) was developed. Combination of nanocomposite adsorption and easily magnetic separation was used to extraction of MG. The calibration graph was linear in the range 0.1–8 μg mL−1 of MG. The detection limit of the method for determination of MG was 0.05 μg mL−1 with a relative standard deviation less than 1.66%.
