Abstract
Clinoptilolite was pretreated by mechanical ball-milling method to obtain nano particles and it was modified by hexadecylpyridynium bromide (HDPBr) surfactant to prepare a surfactant modified zeolite (SMZ) as an effective anion exchanger. The obtained SMZ was used as the active ingredient of a PVC membrane electrode which showed the best Nernstian response toward dichromate in the used conditions. The proposed electrode showed linear response in the concentration range of 1.0 × 10−5 to 5.0 × 10−2 mol L−1 dichromate with a detection limit of 5.0 × 10−6 mol L−1 at pH = 3–6 and a Nernstian slope of 29.9 ± 0.9 mV per decade of dichromate concentration.
