Abstract

The purpose of this study is to immobilize growth factors and coat titanium surfaces using phosphonated UV-curable low-molecular-weight chitosan (Az-P-LM-O-CMC). The structure of the final product was assessed with FT-IR, 31P-NMR, and GPC. The coating of Az-P-LM-O-CMC on titanium was evaluated by measuring water contact angle. Cytotoxicity testing was conducted to determine biocompatibility, and micropatterning was used to check protein immobilization. From the BMP-2 release tests, it was observed that the rate of BMP-2 release could be controlled by multilayer coatings. ALP assay and Ca2+ assay were carried out to evaluate drug immobilization and release effects.
