Abstract
BiOX (X = Br, Cl and I) nanoplate photocatalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized catalysts was evaluated for RhB dye degradation under four types of light emitting diodes (LEDs) irradiation possesses different wavelength. 100% RhB dye degradation was achieved for BiOCl and BiOBr catalysts within 120 and 240 min under UVLED irradiation. Whereas BiOI catalyst owns 83.4% degradation under red LED (RLED) irradiation at the end of 240 min. Our study reveals that BiOI photocatalyst could be effective for RhB dye degradation under cheaper RLED irradiation rather than UVLED.
