Abstract
A falling film tubular photo-reactor with photon utilization and ease of mass transfer was employed for advanced oxidation processes of photolysis, UV/H2O2, UV/TiO2 and UV/H2O2/TiO2. The removal of model pollutant, azo dye C.I. direct red 16 (DR16) was followed. Slurry solutions of titania nanoparticles were used. Obtained results revealed a pronounced reactor performance and the contribution of the falling film was monitored. Using the hybridized process, under the found optimum values of: H2O2 concentration, nano titania dosage and pH, 95% decolorization and 55% aromatic degradation were achieved after 60 min. Meanwhile, kinetics and the energy consumption per order were investigated.
