Abstract
Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the stem bark of Ficus bengalensis L. (Moraceae) resulted in the isolation of two new phytoconstituents characterized as lanost-5,24-dien-3β-yl-β-d-glucopyranosid-2′-O-yl-docos-11″-enoate (lanostadienylglucosyl cetoleate) (1) and 3β-acetoxy-stigmast-22-en-26-oic acid (bengalensisteroic acid ester) (2) together with the known compounds heneicosanyl cis-octadec-9-enoate (heneicosanyl oleate) (3), urs-12-en-3β-yl acetate (α-amyrin acetate) (4), and lup-20(29)-en-3β-ol (lupeol) (5). The structures of these phytoconstituents have been established on the basis of spectral data analysis, chemical reactions and comparison of literature.
