Abstract
Apatitic calcium phosphate powders with Ca/P molar ratio of 1.5 to 1.8 differing by stoichiometry and particles morphology were compacted. For a similar morphology of particles, compact of the non-stoichiometric powders has better cohesion than those of the stoichiometric hydroxyapatite. The apatite powder, which has a smoothness and porous structure (molar ratio Ca/PÂ =Â 1.781), presented the best mechanical properties.
