This paper presents an analysis of the potential benefits of implementing energy sustainability concepts during comminution processes. The work is based on the classical comminution theory and on the theoretical postulates of the multi-component grinding. The assessment of the Punta Gorda grinding plant is presented as a case study. It applies factorial method from the Energy Management System perspective.
Graphical abstractPotential benefits of implementing energy sustainability concepts during comminution processes were analyzed. The application of resultant conditions in Punta Gorda plant (Moa, Cuba) resulted in a reduction of around 1070 MW h/year; in a country like Spain this energy saved could supply the yearly power needs of 350 families, while in the area of Moa this energy would mean the yearly needs of 1000 families.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
