Abstract
Two cases of idiopathic eosinophilic bronchopneumopathy in Labrador Retrievers are presented. This disease, leading mainly to chronic cough, is characterized by infiltration of the bronchi and pulmonary interstitium with eosinophils. A type I hypersensitivity reaction to aeroallergens is suspected but has not been proven yet. Diagnosis is based on the finding, on cytology of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, of abnormally high numbers of eosinophils. Treatment with immunosuppressive dose of glucocorticoids usually leads to rapid improvement of respiratory signs. The clinical presentations, radiographic, bronchoscopic, and clinical pathologic features of these two cases are described and compared to the available literature.
