Abstract
An eight-year-old male Pointer dog was presented with unilateral, progressive and painless exophthalmos of two months duration. Ultrasound examination and MRI revealed a mass in the orbital cone involving the ventral rectus extraocular muscle. Exenteration of the orbital contents was performed and the diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma of the extraocular muscle was made on the basis of the histopathology. This type of mesenchymal tumour has rarely been described in the orbital region. The prognosis is often poor due to metastasis and frequent recurrence of the tumour.
