Abstract
The authors describe two cases of calcific band keratopathy. The unilateral lesions occurred rapidly in two young cats. The first case presented a dry eye, an epithelial keratitis and an interstitial keratitis; the cornea was positive for feline herpes virus-1 by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technique. The second one presented an ulcer and a neurotrophic keratitis. The calcific plaque was in a superficial stromal position. The surgery by keratectomy, in the first case, and extraction of the calcific plaque, in the second case, were curative without recurrence. These two cases suggest that many combined local anomalies could contribute to calcific keratopathy in young cats.
