Abstract
Urinary sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI) is an uncommon disease in male dogs and whom etiopathogeny is still unknown. Unlike in beaches, the medical therapy with phenylpropanolamine gives poor results. The author shows the prostatopexy as a surgical alternative to the treatment of the USMI in male dogs. This surgical technique, illustrated by a case report, allowed a reduction of the incontinence, giving the dog a better quality of life. Prostatopexy is considered as another surgical alternative for USMI treatment.
