Abstract
► A poultry vaccine against highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza virus was developed. ► The vaccine contains the neuraminidase from type B human influenza virus. ► The vaccine allows differentiation between vaccinated and infected animals (DIVA). ► The vaccine can be used preventively against H5 influenza of any N subtype. ► Vaccination of poultry will limit exposure of humans to H5N1.
