Abstract
► There are 75,000 new cases of cervical cancer (CC) in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). ► The highest incidence is in East and West Africa, where HIV is at highest incidence. ► HPV16 and 18 are the commonest types of HPV found in CC diagnosed in SSA. ► SSA region has limited resources for CC screening and treatment. ► HPV vaccination is a viable prevention option despite challenges in implementation.
