Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to consider the effect of the initial deformation on the propagation of Love waves in nonlinear rubberlike materials with the representation of the strain energy function derived by Gent and Yeoh. A layer of finite thickness overlying a half space, both made of different and initially deformed rubberlike materials is taken. We assume that the initial deformation in both material regions is the same. The dependence of the strain energy function W = W(I1) on the first invariants I1 of the deformation tensor generates in both of these materials essential qualitative differences between the linear and linearised approach to the Love waves.
