Abstract
► Allylglycine (AG) is a GABA synthesis enzyme inhibitor. ► Focally applied AG enhances dopamine (DA) efflux in the nucleus accumbens. ► Thus, GABA disinhibits accumbal DA. ► AG-sensitive GABA acts at GABAB, but AG-insensitive GABA acts at GABAA receptors. ► AG allows differentiation of distinct, accumbal GABA receptors.
