Abstract
Trichilia connaroides (Meliaceae) is an evergreen tree widely distributed in South and East Asia. It has been traditionally used as an anti-feedant and in the treatment of cholera, arthritis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and various other ailments. The plant parts are rich in biologically active tetranortriterpenoids (limonoids) and possess good therapeutic potential. The present review illustrates the ethnobotanical uses and research advances till date on its phytochemical constituents and pharmacological activities so that its potential as a multipurpose medicinal agent is understood and appreciated.
