Abstract

AimTo study the triterpenoid saponins of flower buds of Lonicera dasystyla.MethodsChromatographic separations of silica gel, sephadex LH-20 and C18 reversed phase silica gel were used. All the structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis as well as chemical methods.ResultsFour triterpenoid saponins were isolated and their structures were identified as 3-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl (1→3)-O-α-L -rhamnopyranosyl (1→2)-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin-28-O-β-D-gluco-pyranosyl (1→6)-O-(3-O-caffeoyl)-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (1), macranthoidin A (2), dipsacoside B (3), and 3-O-α-L-rhamno-pyranosyl (1→2)-O-α-L-arabinopyranosyl hederagenin (4), respectively.ConclusionCompound 1 is a new triterpenoid saponin which is the first one with a caffeoyl group isolated from the genus Lonicera, while compounds 2-4 are reported from this species for the first time.
