Abstract
Rectangular plate problems, often solved using trigonometric series, are analyzed here using power series expansions. The governing equations and the boundary conditions are immediately reduced to algebraic equations that are readily solved. The method is shown to be accurate for several challenging cases involving complications such as variable thickness, material anisotropy, unsymmetric lamination and shear deformation.
