Abstract
Long-term potentiation of the hippocampal response to repeated stimulation of rat entorhinal cortex occured concomitantly with a decrease in the excitability of presynaptic terminals. It is, therefore, possible that the long-term potentiation is caused, at least partly, by an enhancement of presynaptic efficacy.
