Abstract
The human brain can recognize objects well even when they have incontinuous contours. In order to mimic this function, a hierarchical contour integration method based on the characteristics of edge elements is proposed. The method consists of anisotropic edge extension and statistic-based contour line connection. Experimental results show that the method can effectively connect incontinuous edge elements into relatively integrated contours.
