In the previous study, we proposed the astrocytic Ca2+ concentration (AS[Ca2+]i) oscillation model (PLCδ model). The model reproduced the various Ca2+ concentration oscillations that are observed in cultured hippocampal astrocytes. In this study, we focused on the various AS[Ca2+]i responses induced by the repetitive glutamate (Glu) stimulation and on the effect of changing PLCδ concentration on the [Ca2+]i responses. To investigate these responses we stimulated PLCδ model by the various Glu stimulation patterns. The results suggest that AS[Ca2+]i responses to repetitive Glu stimulation have characteristics similar to neuronal responses, while their time scales are different. Furthermore, we discussed the cell heterogeneity of AS[Ca2+]i responses.
