Abstract
Rheumatoid hand deformities are often visible on the dorsal aspect of the hand and wrist. This explains why less attention has been given to the role of flexor tendon involvement in this condition. Swelling and joint distortions are also more visible on the dorsal aspect, although the sequences of movements, the major part of the joint and collateral ligaments, are volar. Hypertrophic synovitis is also more abundant and thicker volarly than dorsally.
