Abstract
.The interrelationships of vitamin D status and calcium intake on calcium metabolism are less well known in children than adults. From cross sectional data, it appears that calcium absorption is not increased by increasing vitamin D status as in adults, but intervention studies are needed to test this hypothesis. Increasing vitamin D status suppresses PTH as in adults, but the relationship may be affected by race.
