Abstract

Ammonia nitrogen emission generated from land applied FYM was measured under three air velocity conditions (1, 2 and 3 m/s) and application rates (20, 40 and 60 t/ha) by means of three Open Large Dynamic Chambers. Measurements were carried out in all four seasons. Trial results pointed out a significant effect of air velocity and environmental temperature on ammonia nitrogen emission, but no significant effect of application rate. Losses ranged approximately between 5% and 29% of the total nitrogen spread with manure.
