Abstract
There is an abstract or geometric space and a psychological or empirical one. Empirical space is a given of mental life used by language to describe the image of our relationship with people and other objects around. It carries along with it the concept of time and of the self, playing a significant role in the determination of self-consciousness as experienced in normality and in pathology, in the dream and in the psychoanalytic situation.
