Abstract
There is an increasing use of complementary medicine by pregnant women in the UK, and greater acceptance by obstetricians and midwives. This paper explores some of the reasons for and the issues relating to the safe and effective use of complementary therapies and natural remedies during pregnancy and childbirth, using a holistic framework to consider all elements.
