Abstract
												⺠A rooster comb extract was subjected to toxicological testing as part of a program to assess safety. ⺠The extract was administered to rats at doses of 5, 15, and 600 mg/kg bw/day by gavage for 90 days. ⺠The extract was tested in Salmonella typhimurium TA98, TA100, TA1535 and TA1537 and in Escherichia coli WP2 uvra. ⺠The NOAEL was considered to be 600 mg/kg bw/day, the highest dose tested. ⺠There was no evidence of mutagenic activity.
