Abstract
Dynamic and static square-plate twist and beam flexure tests were conducted using various size specimens of 5-ply Lauan wood in order to obtain measurements of the edgewise shear modulus of this representative plywood material. In addition to the experiments, finite element simulations were performed and the validity of the measurement methods was examined. The experimental and numerical analyses reveal that the dynamic beam flexure test method is the most reliable method available for measuring the edgewise shear modulus of this material.
