Abstract
Ventriculo-arterial interaction is a major determinant of global cardiac performance, particularly in pre-existing ventricular failure. Ventriculo-arterial coupling concept quantifies this interaction by assessing ventricular and arterial elastances, representing ventricular contractility and post-charge respectively. Recent investigations showed clinical interest of this concept. However, its application has always been restricted by the need of invasive and complex measurements. Because of non-invasive imaging and signal analysis developments, this concept tends to be used in clinical practice.
