Abstract
Status epilepticus consists in heterogeneous electro-clinical entities with various clinical presentations. Recent advances have allowed to tailor therapy to a given clinical entity. Failing in the accurate recognition of the correct diagnosis is highly possible. Each clinical entity is associated with a different prognosis, resulting in a particular management strategy. Knowing up-to-date and accurate definitions, as well as classifications into one of the various electro-clinical forms, is useful. Consistently, good recognition of the clinical features leads to implement early and adequate investigations and to decide for adequate treatments.
