Abstract
Immunosuppressive agents are responsible of bone marrow and organ transplantation. This review presents the main drug-drug interactions regarding immunosuppressive agents and their mechanisms. The most important level of interaction is at the liver metabolism step, including the P450 cytochromes. Each drug prescription in intensive care unit should consider potential interactions. A close monitoring of the blood immunosuppressive agent concentrations may be helpful to prevent the risk of an overdose (toxic side-effect) or a sub-dosage (graft reject or underlying disease destabilisation).
