Abstract
Zygomycosis, fusariosis, scedosporiosis and trichosporonosis are new emerging disseminated fungal diseases in severe immunocompromised patients, usually with a high attributable mortality. These are frequently breakthrough infections in patients receiving antifungals. Clinicians should be aware of this evolution, should know the clinical characteristics, the diagnostic criteria, the therapeutic strategies, the positive and negative spectrum of activity of each systemic antifungal agents to improve the management and the prognostic of these infections. Cooperation between the clinician mycologist, the laboratory of mycology and pharmacology, surgeons, intensivists and physicians regularly in charge of the patients are warranted.
