Abstract
Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy mimics symptoms of acute myocardial infarction with acute chest pain, ECG changes, and a slight increase in specific cardiac biomarkers. Echocardiography reveals typical wall motion abnormalities, such as apical- and mid-ventricular akinesia and a hypercontractile basis, while coronary angiography demonstrates no relevant epicardial coronary artery disease. Emotional or physical stress usually precedes this cardiomyopathy. The overall prognosis of patients presenting with this syndrome is favourable; the reported in-hospital mortality rates range from 0 to 8%. We present herein a case of typical Tako-Tsubo cardiomyopathy with a favourable outcome.
