Abstract
Severe acute adverse effects may following ingestion of drugs such cocaine, opiates, ecstasy, gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), datura, psilocybe, ketamine. Hyperthermia , which can induce other associated clinical problems and occasionally death, is always associated with severe intoxications by cocaine and ecstasy. Rapid and agressive control of hyperthermia by general cooling measures is a significant step in preventing mortality . The treatment of illicite drugs intoxications is mainly symptomatic. The use of naloxone may be an alternative to avoid intubation/ventilation in opiates poisonings; nevertheless the use of naloxone is tricky and is not recommended in cases of buprenorphine poisoning.
