Abstract
In medicine, mathematical models are used in many application areas, and literature dealing with is increasingly abundant. As descriptive tools, they allow to improve understanding of complex phenomena, and notably of interactions between various parameters of interest. They further make predictions, that should be testable unless irrelevant. We outline the interests and limits of such models, focusing particular attention on some examples.
