Abstract
This article emphasizes the importance of systematic reviews of epidemiological studies, with a focus on physiotherapy, discusses the methodological limitations of epidemiological investigations and their relation with systematic reviews, and describes the planning, development and reporting phases of these studies. Finally, the MOOSE (Meta-Analyses of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) checklist is examined, with suggestions to increase the reporting quality of these studies and whose use is also recommended as a guide in order to assess or critically reading them.
