Abstract
From the 90's, research on disability has increased with lots of articles which present a disability model or social theory. This social model in disability agrees that this is an imposed “social construction”. This study is based in a recent literature review about the psychosocial variables arised when a disabled situation is acquired. The physiotherapist deals in her/his diary practice with disabled patients that could have a certain psychosocial profile. On these psychosocial variables, it's a common field of study the workplace, the gender differences and specific groups of the population. The application of a psychosocial approach in the treatment of Physiotherapy, as a complementary intervention, could be useful for a total and effective attention to the patient.
