Abstract
At a time when reform of physiotherapy training is under way, a quick flashback on the progressive, turbulent establishment of a preparatory first year in medical school is necessary (period 1989-2015). The “old-school” entrance examination is now replaced by selection at the end of a first year in university, but awareness of the value of the new system has not been helped by the reluctance and fears (often unjustified) of some professional physiotherapists. This lack of foresight has undoubtedly slowed the formal establishment of the new method of selecting our students and, consequently, delayed the implementation of the reform of physiotherapy training.
