Osteopathie als Kunst?

ZusammenfassungWir kennen den Satz, dass Osteopathie eine Philosophie, eine Wissenschaft und eine Kunst ist. Dieser Artikel will der Frage nachgehen, inwiefern die osteopathische Praxis als Kunst begriffen werden kann, welche Bereicherungen und welche Gefahren sich daraus ergeben können. Dafür werden unterschiedliche Begriffe von „Kunst” betrachtet, vom Handwerk über Ästhetik bis hin zu einem neuen Begriff der „Aisthesis”, der Ästhetik und Ethik verbindet und die achtsame Aufmerksamkeit in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Darüber hinaus wird ein psychoanalytisches Modell besprochen, das die Kommunikation von Künstler und Kunstwerk thematisiert und damit moralische Konflikte in einer künstlerisch verstandenen Beziehung zwischen Osteopath und Patient aufzuzeigen hilft.

We all know the phrase that osteopathy is a philosophy, a science and an art. This article tries to assess to which extent osteopathic practice might be considered as an art and what in consequence could be the gain and possible risks. Therefore different concepts of ‘art’ are considered encompassing skill, aesthetics and a recent concept of ‘aisthesis’, which combines aesthetics and ethics and focuses on deliberate attention. Furthermore a psychoanalytic model dealing with the specific communication between artist and artwork will be discussed. The model might be helpful to illustrate moral conflicts that might arise when the osteopath-patient-relationship is understood as an artistic relationship.
