Abstract
This work presents a thorough review of the available literature on the use of the iontophoresis technique in the treatment of athletic injuries. The scientific evidence on the subject has been reviewed, studying its dosage, effectiveness and the benefits and disadvantages of its application in this area. A review has been made of that which has been published on the subjects in the principal databases for sciences of health, obtaining the greatest level of evidence provided in recent years. It has been concluded that the literature and level of consensus found are scare, although there are some well-designed studies that support the use of this technique in some types of athletic injuries and under certain conditions.
