Abstract
Safeguarding children is a fundamental and integral aspect of neonatal care: the author examines current legislation which guides practice, and using a case-study to illustrate areas of inter-agency working, concludes that there is room for improvement in areas such as record-keeping, communication, and training, and identifies an overall need for a raised level of awareness within current neonatal nursing practice.
