Abstract

This article is a report on the changes made to the Leicester Neonatal Service in order to try and reduce the number of admissions of term and near term neonates It discusses strategies that are already in place and covers audit results that demonstrate the size of the problem, staffing initiatives—some of which may be unique—and the introduction of guidelines that have proved effective. It concludes with a discussion of some of the future plans for the service.
